Serene purity. Intimidating beauty. Immense power.

This is indisputably some of earths most jaw dropping sights when speaking of beautiful habitated nature.

Doppelgänger

Damn you Darwin and Mengele. To hell with your theories. Especially you curious servant of the church, playing Picasso with gods own brushes and paint.

In all fairness, one should not blame these two extraordinary scientists for what seems to be natures play of chance, odds and probability. For all, down to our very last atom, we are but complex beings put together by simple building blocks in ways and combinations equivalent to the number of stars in our universe - which very well indeed, theoretically, should make us quite individual and unique.

As stephen hawking has proclaimed, the chances of winning the lottery jackpot are so remarkably insignificant one should rather save ones money rather than adding to its expanding grand prize - which accurately predicted by hawking may never be claimed. Paradoxically, despite the fragile odds, someone has to win it - it just shan’t be you.

So if the combination of our genes is equivalent to winning the lotterys grand prize, which itself is astronomical, one would expect every single persons appearance were not to be duplicated by natures random genetic recombinations. It is just impossible to have someone look alike, as one would logically reason from said scientists’ scientific conclusions.

Quite on the contrary. You see, just like someone will eventually win the lottery, someone is bound, somewhere and sometime throughout history, to bear an uncanny resemblance to your self. But as noted, such an event is quite unlikely to occur even throughout humanity’s 500.000 years. And even less so, have such two similar individuals live in the same day an age, and ever so less in the same location.

Yet, that is in fact what has occurred. I have a doppelgänger. A clone. One who certainly could be mistaken for being me. One who undoubtedly would pass airport security with my passport should he have it acquired. One who could even fool my own family for a brief moment.

Intriguing.

Maybe I ought to start playing the lottery.

Winter night in Switzerland, with Venus on the horizon.

Maybe soon.

SOPA & PIPA

Makes me speechless thinking about all the fuzz around the “stop online piracy act” and its sibling PIPA. From the cunningly deceiving names of these acts, which - granted is certainly their main purpose, but also the complications and consequences on free speech and censorship that will manifest through these acts.

Stop online piracy, make the copyright holders and its employees work not go uncredited in terms of financial reward. Perfectly reasonable, and for this i support it. One should get rewarded for one’s work. But under this pure of heart intention, lurks a frightening evil.

Interestingly, all the politicians who were in favor of this act, when MPAA and RIAA handsomly would reward its lobbyists - as is customary, made an abrupt u-turn when the Internet users got a hold of SOPA and pipa’s real areas of impact.

God damn liars. If theres something I hate more than mechanics and lawyers it’s politicians. When the people who voted them into office is not looking, they’re doing their outmost best to please whatever organization that gives them enough money, conveniently until their voters get a sniff of what theyre doing, and if frowned upon, the politician will distance itself as far away from said moneymaker and deny any relation, followed by promises of representing his voters best interests and not anyone or anything else.

Sadly we believe them. And i don’t like it one bit.

I personally think that SOPA and PIPA for now have been prevented, if not just slowed down. But they will return. Concealed ever so more deceivingly, disguised with good intentions, but in the end, harmful to what arguably is one of the most important human rights - freedom of speech.

It is inevitable.

This is a company logo and its name in Poland - Porr. Mildly suggestive I think. With a little bit of fantasy you could reason yourself into getting a whole other meaning than what it supposedly means in polish. Of course “porr” is amusingly how the swedes spell it, all the way down to the the last “r”. Hardly the construction workers intention I presume. In fact I doubt it even means anything in the regional or for that matter local slang

Speaking of construction workers. I haven’t seen anyone actively working on that site since October, maybe early November. Less do i have any idea of what they are planning to construct. Last time I saw a man scrambling around those cabins he was seeking privacy for an urgent intimate matter of a more natural nature than one would assume shady looking men running around on an abandoned site would seek.

If this building doesn’t get finished either, you can add that to krakows expanding portfolio of unfinished constructions. I am of course referring to none other than “skeletor”. A rather unsharming an unpleasant name for a small sized European “skyscraper” that never got past the point of development than, well, the skeleton or scaffolds - hence its name. Ironically it is listed on wikihoods iOS app as a tourist attraction. And is serving its purpose now as a giant billboard.

If skeletor did salvage its own fate by creatively finding another use for itself, other than housing offices - for which it was intended, then what would “Porr” find it self doing should it never be finished, or for that matter cleaned up? Maybe fate has in store what its name so mildly suggests? In any case if it does, I have a front row seat to all of its future endeavors, unwillingly of course, but none the less amusing.

Bowers and wilkins P5

Just got my new headset. Have been loving it since I unboxed them. Probably the most beautiful headphones ever to have been made.

I’ll just say it right away - they’re not bass monsters. They do have a pretty good punch to the bass, but what I think b&w is shooting for here is natural sounding bass. The way it sounded for the musicians making the song in question in the studio. It’s not just a big head concussion inducing growl, you can expect from beats or Bose. It is a naturally balanced bass which lets you hear the tones of it. It takes some getting used to, but these headphones has opened my ears up to a world of music that used to be nothing but background noise to me while I was busy doing other things.

One of the best things is just lying on the bed with these awesome headphones and deduce every single instrument from the song currently playing.

Man I love stereo. But proper stereo. Guitar on the left ear, vocals on the right. Bass on dead center together with percussion. Flutes or fingerpicking strings alternating between the ears in an almost hypnotizing sonic pulsation.

I can get lost for an hour easy.

But it makes me wonder about sound quality and file formats. With headphones like these you should have a few songs in lossless formats such as AIFF, and I do. But is there really a difference between AIFF am 320kbps MP3 or AAC??

I tried hearing the difference playing Jeff Buckleys Grace album from beginning till end. As much as I wanted to say yes there is a notable difference and justify having 50mb AIFF files in iTunes instead of a 7mb 320 MP3, I can’t say that there is. At least not playing the song back on a MBP late 2008 or my iPhone 4.

There were absolutely no difference to be heard. But I guess with a proper amp and cd player you could argue there is a difference.

Anyhow.

This is my first post on tumblr.
